Massage is NOT a luxury but rather a body essential, half an hour is better than nothing.  You cannot take care of others if you are not taking care of you.

It is imperative you increase your water intake after a massage. This helps your kidneys flush toxins, if you don't, you could get a nasty headache.

Trigger Point Therapy and Myo-fascia Release
 
Fascia is part of your connective tissue, and gives you mobility/stretch.  

When the myo-fascia is stressed from overuse or trauma it can tear, 'stick' together.  The adhesions are called trigger points and can prevent/reduce range of motion and mobility.  Trigger points lead to an increase in muscle stiffness & tenderness, in addition, the pain/discomfort from trigger points can radiate, this is known as referred pain.

Releasing fascia/trigger points improves blood and lymphatic circulation as well as releasing toxins. Feeling stiff/sore, no it is not your age, but probably decreased range of motion caused by stuck fascia and trigger points.  Releasing can be painful and leave bruising, but it is so worth it.

If you have chronic aches and pain or stiff areas such as neck/upper, low back, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders, you may consider Deep Tissue.  Your therapist can focus on your tension areas or treat the whole body.

Deep tissue massage is a technique that focuses primarily on the deeper layers of muscles, trigger points and myo-fascia.  Sometimes this technique involves using firmer pressure in order to reach key areas and get them to release, which is why this particular massage is often recommended for people who are comfortable with a slightly more intense touch.

The benefits of deep tissue massage are beyond question:

Proven to reduce stress hormones and relieve everyday discomforts, such as aching neck, sore back, leg cramps, swelling of the ankles and feet and oedema (fluid retention).

Your massage is based on Swedish massage principals.  Side-lying, supported by a range of pillows and foam cut-outs to support your belly and avoid extra muscular strain, you will be transported to your happy place.

Your permission will be asked before your tummy is massaged.
Pregnancy Massage

Cupping
 
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine. Can be done alone or as part of a massage.

Can help with:  pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being.
 
One way to think about cupping is that its the inverse of massage. Rather than applying pressure to muscles, the suction uses pressure to pull skin, tissue and muscles upward.

The purpose of cupping is to enhance circulation, help relieve pain, remove 'heat'  (blocked Qi) and pull out the toxins that linger in your body's tissues.

Cupping is often used to release trigger points and by creating a slight vacuum we are able to move the cups which is an effective tool in releasing fascia.
